Abstract

Many surgical approaches to the clivus and upper cervical spine have been performed in the treatment of skull base tumors over the past 50 years. However the outcome of surgery has been complicated by difficulties of access to the whole clivus,
with
significant morbidity of the procedure.
The Le Fort I osteotomy with downfracturing of the maxilla has recently been adopted as asurgical option of the mid-skull base tumor. Compared with other popular techniques, the Le Fort I osteotomy provides excellent exposure for clivus tumors,
and
other tumors of the central base of the skull, within short total anesthesia time.
We experienced a case of 64-year-old patient who involved invasive pituitary adenoma in combined surgery with department of neurosurgery. We repory its clinical findings and details of the operative procedure through review of literature.
